Jodo seminar in Corsica

from October 15 to 17, 2004

Our gasshuku took place as we had planned it and the weather was also with us. This allowed us to practice outside, starting at 6.30 a.m. on the beach where we did Kihon. The sunrise was beautiful with a flight of ducks in the sky, just when the sun came up the horizon!

Gilles had worked out a program for Hanmi and the Kata he had selected were those for which we had quite a few difficulties.

Laurent who was fortunately able to join us took also care of our training session on Thursday evening. This was really a great gift for our small Corsica group! During the whole gasshuku we could take great profit of Laurent's and Gilles' teaching.

We should, however, not forget Jean-Claude who with much effort took care of everybody. After the official end of the gasshuku Christophe and Maurice had time to practice Kage with him. As for myself, I worked the Ken-side with Gilles and Jean-Claude took the time to watch and correct the whole series with Christophe taking the Ken.

I think that Gregory who started last year appreciated also very much the gasshuku. His obvious ease to assimilate what we showed him always surprises me. It is really a great opportunity for us to work with a beginner like him.

We also did not forget Roland. His job as fire-fighter keeps him quite busy, not allowing him to be with us. However, he trains alone and everytime we meet he asks me a lot of questions. He wanted to participate in our gasshuku but was hold back at the last moment to replace a colleague.

Beside the gasshuku we had the pleasure to welcome some future newcomers. On Monday, they were three people who started their first training session. It was a quite interesting experience for me to train with these persons and to cope with different difficulties. They wanted to come back with one more person and I even should welcome the husband of an Aikido training partner! However, I do not have much illusion in this respect, if ever one or two persons will finally stay with us this would be fine for our group.
