First EJF Jodo Seminar in Frankfurt with Yves Galley

November 28th and 30th 2008

For this first seminar in Frankfurt which was organized by Thilo we had the privilege of having Yves Galley with us for three training sessions. A first training session took place on Friday evening, starting at 7:30 p.m. At the beginning, we had to share the gym with some Judoka which, however, did not diminish our enthusiasm. We were about ten people coming from Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Dresden and Vienna.

During this evening,we did some striking exercises of the first three Kihon with Jo against Jo in three different versions.

After two hours of training, we had the pleasure of having a dinner in a Greek restaurant in Frankfurt.

Saturday morning started with a small breakfast in the gym for those who slept there. Yves then did not hesitate to make us sweat by doing the Kihon, followed by Bokken exercises during the whole morning. In the afternoon we practiced the Omote series. Each Kata was analyzed in detail and many corrections were shown.

Saturday evening, we went to the Frankfurt Christmas market with Yves. This was a kind of adventure, for it was literally impossible to advance in the huge mass of people. Furthermore, many shops opened until 8 p.m. and even 10 p.m. so that quite a lot of people still purchased gifts for Christmas. That's why we stopped at an Indian restaurant where we had again a nice dinner.

On Sunday morning, everybody was back in time and we started by lining up in two rows. Together with one's partner, everybody could have a free training and after some exercises, we changed the partner. Simultaneously, Yves took one after the other to train with her/him intensively during approximately 20 minutes and to give some corrections.

After lunch, Thilo took Yves to the Frankfurt train station so that he could take his train in time. Everybody was very satisfied with this first seminar and Thilo has already booked Yves for the next one end of November 2009.
