Gasshuku in Saillon (Switzerland)
February 2-3, 2008
It was for the second time that the "Carnival Gasshuku" took place in Saillon. 10 people from Fribourg, Duebendorf, Saillon, Italy and Paris gathered on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in the marvelous dojo of the Swiss Karate Association.
On Friday evening, we could profit from Pascal's presence in Montreux to assist there at his monthly training session in the canton of Vaud. On Saturday morning, we started with an hour of uchi komi with honte uchi, gyakute uchi and hiki otoshi uchi. We then continued with kihon sotai. Many details were studied so that everybody was able to deepen his/her basic techniques.
The afternoon was dedicated to a detailed insight view of omote, and beginners had the chance to learn new kata.
After having taken a warm and sulfureous bath in the nearby thermal swimming pool (only for those who didn't forget their swimming suit) we went to the restaurant Gîte where we had a fantastic dinner and could taste local specialties (well! This apricot-raspberry liquor, fine).
On Sunday morning, we had the pleasure to welcome Michel Ducret which allowed us to work on the advanced series, Ran Ai for Charles, Samidare and Kage for Giulio. So everybody could profit from his experience. Thanks to him for being able to assist us.
The Gasshuku finished around noon. This allowed everybody to return home without problems.
