Gasshuku with Kees Bruggink in Meißen

March 22 to 23, 2008

This weekend we had, as usual, a lot of intensive work to do. And a lot of fun, too. The seminar was led by Kees Bruggink from Haarlem/Netherlands. Our group in Dresden was proud to welcome people from Vienna, Praha and Munich as well as people from a local Aikodo group from Meissen and Ostrau. To our great honor Shikanai Sensei from Brazil stayed after an Aikodo Seminar in Dresden in order to train with us.

On both days we spent a lot of time working with basic exercises in uchi komi with a special focus on the correct Shisei and Kikentai. During these exercices, the role of uchidachi and how important he is for a good training was stressed out very often.

In one of our many discussions Shikanai Sensei stressed out what Keiko meant to him – looking back at an object through a mirror. He explained that most of all it is a constant repetition of a technique. Through Keiko you can look back into history and may find connections to the one who developed the technique.

Hope to see you soon! Jan, from Dresden
