18th Stage des Vendanges

from October 28 to 29, 2006

It was the first time that the 18th Montreux Gasshuku organized by MUSOKAI under the direction of Michel Colliard and Michel Ducret took place in Corsier sur Vevey, Switzerland.

It is always a great pleasure for us to welcome participants coming from France, Austria, Italy, United Kingdom, Spain, Germany and Hungary, and of course Switzerland. More than 30 people joined the Gasshuku.

As usual, we had a 3-hour pre-Gasshuku training on Friday evening with Pascal Krieger Sensei, followed by a delicious beer and spaghetti prepared by our fantastic cook Claire Bertolini whom we would like to express our warmest thanks.

The Gasshuku was quite intensive, the weekend training started with Kihon Sotai and some uchikomi exercises. We then formed several groups so that everybody could practice kata series corresponding to his/her level and learn some new techniques. We also could welcome Tristan, a newcomer who lives in Zurich and who was able to learn the first three kihon. We hope to see him again soon.

And also as usual, Coco San organized a wine-tasting session on Saturday evening with wines from the region. We then went to the Café de l'Avenir either for Fondue or ribeyesteak and finally to enjoy a cigar of a size similar to the Jo.

The theme of our Gasshuku written in calligraphy was ?Musôkai?. This is the name of a new association created by Coco San and myself for practicing and studying Jôdô and Iaidô in the Vaud Riviera region (Vaud is a Swiss canton at Lake Geneva).

The album of our Gasshuku can be found under www.musokai.ch.

Hope to see you soon at the Kagamibiraki !

Michel Ducret, Gomokuroku
