Important Moments and Encounters

In 1969, he starts Judô at the Judo-Club de Vevey and Montreux, Switzerland. After 10 years practice directed toward competition, Michel follows training courses to become official Judô teacher under the direction of Mikami Sensei and Katanishi Sensei. He obtains, in 1992, his level 3 teaching license from the Swiss Judô Association and gets his 4th dan in 1995..

In 1977, at the Judo-Club de Montreux, Michel meets with Pascal Krieger who had come for a Jodo and Iaido demonstration after a long stay in Japan. Very impressed by his demonstration and his human warmth, Michel decided to invest himself in the practice of Jôdô and Iaidô and became, with his comrade and Sempai of the same club, Michel Colliard, one of the first students of Pascal Krieger. A Jodo group (Shinto Muso Ryu) and Iaido group (Muso Shinden Ryu) was initiated in Montreux, and Pascal Krieger (actually Menkyo Kaiden in Jodo, technical director of the EJF, and technical co-director of the FEI) comes regularly in Montreux to teach these two disciplines.

In 1979, meeting with Donn F. Draeger Sensei and Karunakaran Sensei at the 1st International Jodo Jamboree in Malaysia.

In 1980, meeting with Kaminoda Sensei (Jodo Master) and Otake Risuke Sensei (Headmaster of Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu) on their European tour. It is also at this occasion that Michel meets with Malcom Tiki Shewan Sensei (actually Technical Director of the FEI).

In 1982, meeting with Phil Relnick Sensei (President of the IJF) and Quintin Chambers Sensei, at the 2nd International Jodo Jamboree in Malaysia.

In 1988 he receives his 'Shoden' certificate of the IJF and obtains his 4th dan in Jodo in 1991 at the 5th International Jodo Jamboree in Malaysia.

In 1994, meeting with Nishioka Tsuneo Sensei, Menkyo Kaiden of Shinto Muso Ryu Jodo, early student of Shimizu Takaji Sensei, at the 6th International Jodo Gasshuku in Hawaii. Michel receives his 'Okuiri' certificate there.

In 1997, he receives his Shomokuroku, first teaching license of Shinto Muso Ryu Jodo.

In 1999, he obtains his 2nd dan in Iaido from the FEI.

In July 2000, Michel is promoted Chûden IJF by the International Jôdô Federation.

In 2004, he receives his Gomokuroku, second teaching license of Shinto Muso Ryu Jodo.

In November 2005, he obtains his 3rd dan in Iaido from the FEI.

In 2005 Michel and his comrade Michel Colliard founded the Association Mûsôkai (www.musokai.ch) for the development, study and practice of Jôdô and Iaidô in Montreux/Vevey, Switzerland

In 2007 Michel is promoted Shoden by the FEI.

In 2010, he obtains his 4th dan in Iaido from the FEI.

In 2011 Michel is promoted Chûden by the FEI

Also in 2011 he receives the final teaching certificat 'Menkyo Kaiden' SMR from Pascal Krieger Sensei.

In december 2023 Michel is promoted Kûden by the FEI.
