Budô Curriculum

Born of Italian parents, Loris Petris began the practice of Yoseikan Budo in 1980 and participated in his first course with Me Hiroo Mochizuki in 1981. From 1983, the discipline evolving towards competition, he turned to the traditional arts at its source: Aïkido Yoseikan, Karatedo and Kobudo Katori Shinto Ryu. Young 1st dan in 1985, he participated in many international courses and often practiced in Paris under the direction of various experts.

In July 1986, a course led by Me Yoshio Sugino (1904-1998), 10th dan, was a revelation. The study of the martial tradition Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu therefore becomes the central element of his research. His studies and his military service completed at the end of 1988, Loris left in January 1989 at the age of 19 for Japan to live as an uchi deshi in the Yoseikan of Shizuoka of Me Minoru Mochizuki (1907-2003), 10th dan Meijin, where he devoted himself to a practice intensive and daily. He will return there, fifteen times from 1991, both at the Yoseikan in Shizuoka and at the Yushinkan Sugino Dojo in Kawasaki and at the Hino dojo of the Seiryukai Jodo of Me Tsuneo Nishioka (1924-2014). For ten years, he has been going to Japan every two years or so, mixing martial and academic activities. In 1998, on the death of Me Yoshio Sugino, he became a student of his son, Me Yukihiro Sugino, 9th dan Shihan, who appointed him responsible for Switzerland (Shibu-cho) in 2002. From then on and at his invitation, Me Sugino comes to teach every year in Switzerland.

In 1991, Loris Petris founded the Bushinkan in Neuchâtel. The other decisive meeting took place in 1993, when he attended a demonstration by Me Pascal Krieger in Lausanne. Loris becomes his student for Jodo Shindo Muso Ryu and Iaido Muso Shinden Ryu. For more than ten years, he went to Geneva on Monday evenings. In 2003, he received the Oku-iri from the hands of Me Pascal Krieger, with the rank f 3rd dan, and in 2020 the Shomokuroku. He is promoted to official EJ/IJF teacher in the summer of 2022.

After practicing Aikido since 1983, Loris Petris joined ikibudo in 2000 directed by Me Alain Floquet, 9th dan, of which he became a student. He was promoted to 5th dan in 2012 and in 2013 appointed national technical director for Switzerland. He assumed the presidency of the International Aikibudo Federation (2013-2017) then the vice-presidency (2017-).

In 2020, Loris Petris established the first academic course (theory and practice, Bachelor level, UniNE) on combat sports and martial arts at a Swiss university.

In Japan as in Europe, Loris Petris has also been able to benefit from regular or occasional lessons from various sword masters (Goro Hatakeyama, Malcom Tiki Shewan, etc.), Aikido (Christian Tissier, Michio Hikitsuchi, Kazuo Chiba, H. Ikeda, Terence W. Ezra etc.) and Karatedo (Teruo Sano, Roland Habersetzer, Kenyu Chinen etc.). He has taught in Italy, France, Germany, England, South Africa and Japan.
