Jodo Gasshuku in Corsica in Autumn 2007

During our autumn Gasshuku in Corsica the kamis were with us, for we had a sunny weekend unlike the previous and the following weekends; but what made the Gasshuku successful was the pleasure we had to meet again and to share our common passion. The atmosphere was informative and pleasant under Gilles Tache's guidance assisted by Jean-Claude Hamel, and we had also the pleasure to meet Dominique Boetti who shared his passion for Aikido with us so that we better understood the principles we had studied. The subject of the Gasshuku was ichi go ichi e, and we took advantage of studying as much as possible, everybody with his own experience. We divided into several groups so that all of us could practice according to their level. Our beginners were very courageous and persevering from 6 o'clock in the morning till evening and were rewarded by demonstrations from the advanced people. Most of the participants from the island could now discover the advanced series.

The attached pictures show how we "suffered" during this Gasshuku in such an "unpleasant" environment; however, what we can not see but what was formidable were the musical talents of Jean-Pierre who - accompanied by a group of friends - made us forget the defeat of France's rugby team. Special mention to young Mathieu and his mom who - with drum and song - participated in this party.

Sunday morning was dedicated to kenjutsu, followed by new techniques for some people, while the others continued to train the last techniques they had learned. There was also the opportunity for examination, and all candidates were quite successful.

I now would like to express my wish to meet you again next year, and on behalf of the island group I would like to express my gratitude to all those who make this meeting a success every autumn, and of course to our teachers, but also to all the participants who come to share our friendship as well as to those who made every effort to organize the Gasshuku.

As for me, I also would like to thank all participants with a gei for their efforts not only during the Gasshuku, but during the whole year.
