Vincent Zahnd visited Grenoble

October 16th, 2005

On Sunday, October 16th 2005, Vincent Zahnd paid a visit to our Jo group in Grenoble. He was accompanied by two of his students, Patricia and Yukari. Beside his teaching, Vincent also gave us a shômen, a calligraphy executed by Pascal Krieger: Gojô, the 5 Confucian values (NIN, courtesy, GI, justice, REI, etiquette, CHI, awareness and SHIN, confidence). By the way, the group from Grenoble would like to thank Pascal very much for this gift that everybody appreciated a lot.

The morning was dedicated to Kihon during which Vincent explained in detail for each of the twelve techniques several weak points we have to work on. In the afternoon was split into two parts. The first part was dedicated to Kenjutsu and we will keep in mind the terrific “Kiri Otoshi” exercise. During the second part, and according to the participant’s level and skill, some people learned a new Kihon or worked on Omote or Chûdan.

The training session was closed by a short Embu executed by Vincent and Daniel. This should give a first insight view of some Kata from our school to the beginners.

This training session was also a possibility for two Aikidoka from Grenoble to discover Shinto Muso Ryû Jodo. We hope this training session has convinced them and that they will join our ryû!
