4th International Jodo Seminar in Rome

from February 11th to February 13th, 2005

The 4th international SMR Jodo Rome seminar has taken place starting Friday, February 11th 2005 with an introductory lesson by Vincent Zahnd on SMR Kenjutsu at the Takehaya Dojo (Via Luigi Bodio 8).

For dinner Daniele introduced us to the joys of Roman traditional cuisine in a nearby hostaria.

Saturday morning the official part of the seminar started after a generous breakfast at the meeting point near the Dojo. Sergio Dieci prepared the shomen which Daniele Romanazzi is still trying to explain.

The morning practice started with kihon tandoku with corrections of movements and stance continuing with kenjutsu exercises and awase. After a well deserved lunch the seminar continued at a more comfortable location with more space and light and a view on the Roman countryside. Not without creating different reactions at our passage:

  1. terrorizing the local population
  2. some people joined us in prayer

In the evening we enjoyed the hospitality of Daniele at his new apartment with a memorable buffet and jazz.

Sunday morning was dedicated to kata study. After a quiet lunch everyone left and exchanged greetings until the next seminar.

All this happened with the collaboration of a train and public transportation strike on Friday and Rome's traffic blockade on Sunday .

Sergio Dieci has directed the seminar with the pleasurable and efficient participation of Vincent Zahnd for the 2nd time in Rome. Unmistakable and incredible the presence of Daniel Leclerc who came with Mario Saitto from Milan.

With solemn modesty we were honoured by the presence of our President Barbara Meroni and even the Vice President Helga Wurth.

In Rome around Daniele Romanazzi there is the growing group of Gianfranco D’onofrio, Roberto Iannelli, Maurizio Pace, Luigi P Gliosci, Mirella Quero, Federica DiCarlo, Piergiorgio Ottaviani, Antonio Assisi and for the first time in Jodo: Camilla Francisci.

The international participants were: Maria Rosa Valluzzi from Padua, Florence Palvair from France, Gabriele, Cyndi and Asta…from Switzerland.
