Jodo Gasshuku in Würzburg
15th and 16th of July 2006
On July 15 and 16 2006, a jodo Gasshuku was organized in Würzburg, Germany. It replaced the one-week European Gasshuku which did not take place as usual when an international Gasshuku IJF is organized.
The weather was really exceptionally fine. Isolated in the middle of an enormous football field, we could only catch the shadow of our neighbour or our opponent.
Franz Scheiner's organization was superb, practical and very simpatico. Many thanks to him and his team as well as to Matthias Wenderoth responsible for the overall organization.
This team didn't it do for the first time. In fact, every year - and for those who have not yet participated in this seminar - the « two inseparable Michel » from Montreux give a weekend seminar for almost 10 years now. This time, they could take it a bit easier.
Despite the terrible heat, the Gasshuku was in my opinion very successful. I was assisted by the two already mentioned Michel, Laurent Subilia, Fred Quant and Sergio Dieci.
On Saturday, the group gave an Enbu in front of some local spectators and on Sunday, after the group picture, examination took place as there are no examinations during the international Gasshuku in Brazil. The following candidates were successful:
5th Kyu
- Joachim Hensel-Losch
- Katharina Losch
- Zdenek Dvorak
- Karel Burian
- Petr Ogurey
- Fabrice Clausse
4th Kyu
- Yann Georgin
3rd Kyu
- Gabriel da Fonseca
- Silke Körner
2nd Kyu
- Gérard Payeur
- Alber Thilo
- Jan Rose
1st Kyu
- Elke Faatz
- Andreas Knobloch
- Jan Gerrit Post
- Christiaan Zandt
1st Dan
- Shanti Tuinstra
- Patrick Orth
2nd Dan
- Bernhard Hobmayer
The Gasshuku was closed around 4 p.m. on Sunday. Everybody seemed to be « happy ». And & laquo; happiness » was also the theme of the seminar, according to Dostoyevsky: « Man doesn't know that happiness is precisely the fact to be a man, that's why he is unhappy » (for our charming female companions, the Japanese word for man is « Ningen », human being. This is just to tell you that happiness is also for you)
