Stage des Iles 2016

May, 5th to 8th 2016

About forty people gathered in Iles de Lérins for our annual training seminar. This year's theme of the workshop was UCHI KOMI, calligraphy by Maria Rosa, Marie and Jacky. A dynamic and studious way to approach more intensely the principle of cutting.

SUBURI (Jo or Ken) sessions have often been offered to the participants, each exercise allowing them to become mentally and also physically aware of the Fundamentals proper to the Principle of the Cut.

The choice of proposing 2 workshops per segment allowed us to maintain a well-balanced momentum within each workshop. This concept will probably be maintained next year.

Finally a beautiful sunny weather allowed us to work outside for Ken and Jo, the Iaido taking advantage of the protected area of La Poudrière.
More than 30 hours were scarified by the present teachers during the seminar, spread over the three disciplines.

Regarding the evenings of these long training days, Thursday evening was devoted to a common reflection on listening to one's Self in practice (animated by François.D) and an exchange between teachers and trainees on the content of future seminars. Friday evening is traditionally the evening of the Calligraphy Class (le soir de «la Classe de Calligraphie in French), where the 3 teachers (Maria Rosa, Marie and Jacky) still surprised and delighted us with the work proposed. The evening of Saturday is that of relaxation around the Barbecue. A tradition of this seminar is the musical accompaniment (thanks to the flute and violin of Jean Marc and his big boy!)

I finish this report with a big "thank you" to Claude Elandaloussi for having managed a perfect organization of this seminar despite the serious accident of the road he was victim a few weeks ago.

Stage des Iles 2017:

The Stage des Iles is a great Family where Sharing and Friendship enrich each of us. In this spirit, the Stage des Iles 2017 will allow us to discover and practice Ken and Iaido by KATORI SHINTO RYU under the technical direction of Loris Pétris (6th dan-SUGINO Family). The practice of Jodo and Aikido will complete the technical program.

See you again next year...
