Seminar in Uzhhorod, Ukraina

February, 3rd to 5th 2017

A seminar of Aikido and Jodo was held in Uzhhorod on February 3-5, 2017. The Aikido part was lead by Shihan Stéphane Benedetti (7th dan), while the Jodo part was taken care of by me.

Due to its location in the western Ukraine and a convenient train connection, Uzhhorod is actually easier to reach from Czech Republic than from some parts of Ukraine; a few of the participants had to travel around 1 500 km and their trip took several days. (The participants came from this cities: Uzhhorod, Lviv, Kiev, Kharkiv, Poltava, Zaporizhia, Donetsk and Sevastopol.) The trainings were attended by up to 35 people, including Renata from the Czech Republic, Tamás and Endré from Hungary.

The Jodo training was divided into four parts, starting with an introduction into the first six kihon techniques and their practice in pairs, followed by Suigetsu and Tsuki zue katas. We included a demonstration of Omote waza and Ran-ai to give the participants a better idea regarding the range of techinques. More advanced participants then practiced the first five katas of Omote and later the whole serie.

We received positive feedback regarding the seminar, especially from more advanced participant. We hope there will be opportunities for similar meetings in the future.
